Re: The demise of youth football in this country.....
I love the misnomer that uncompetitive kids games are not competitive. Kids want to win whether they are playing for points or not. What it does stop is parents having a punch up as they are obsessing over 3 points in a league table

Baggins I think it's still miles away from the rest of Europe. .......better than 15 years ago....yes but still not what it should be.

KIA you are a mong mate.

Cullen has no pace......but has been 1 of our best players in the youth set up surrounded by ATHLETES.

Oxford is a rare talent that seems to have a bit of everything.

If you had posted this 15 years ago, it would have been correct. Not now though.

I suspect the point of this thread is just to say you have been to some youth games.

Hahahahahahaha

What an utter fucking moron you really are.

Re: The demise of youth football in this country.....
Before training for my team there are about 10 kids teams training on the pitch, the coaches in general haven't got a clue. There is no facility these days when kids can just play without someone telling what to do. People are frightened to let their children play outside on their own so everything has to be organised, its useless and expensive.

Ban full kit full 11 a side matches until they are 14. Ban all cars from the streets. Get all the kids back on THEIR streets, kicking a tin can (actually, a ball would be better) around with jumpers for goal posts, and watch us win the world cup once again.

Only half joking, but on top of the good points made already, I'm oh so gently hinting at another valid factor in this problem.

Re: The demise of youth football in this country.....
It has started to change at grass roots level, I'm a youth coach and the U6-U8 is now 5 a side games on smaller pitches with no league table, the FA coaching badges now emphasise on giving everyone a chance and let them express themselves and enjoy the game, ultimately it's up to the coaches but the FA are going in the right direction look up the FA's Future Game launched in 2010.

"You've seen a lot of Antonio then KIA? "

Nope

I like Fordy at 1250, completely making his own point look stupid by saying Josh Cullen is a skilful player.

Re: The demise of youth football in this country.....
Ohhh by the way....you don't need shin pads when teams you play against are scared to kick you cos they are worried about getting carved up after the game.

Re: The demise of youth football in this country.....
It's just a cultural thing I assume our top clubs throw dough at youngsters to entice them to play which in turn turns them in to little cunts that think they're big time....you compare that to Barcelona and all the players get paid €1100 and HAVE to complete their education. At the end of the day it's down to the parents to stop this happening but there's to many shit parents in this country unfortunately.

Stewie
"Our age groups - up to the u21s which we've never taken seriously enough - are extremely successful, and the problem has always been the transition from talented youngster to first team regular."
Half the problem is kids a parents taking the dough at a young age to go to the bigger clubs when in truth they'll be lucky to play for that team by the time they're 22. Look at Chelsea and city's academy you'd have to be off your rocker to let your kid go to either of those clubs if they were actually good enough.
Once your strong enough to play against men players only develope by playing in the first team.
The loan system is a joke firstly 20million pound players need time to settle in but if a 19 year old kid goes out on loan like say Sears gets played out of position doesn't tear up trees he gets written off much like Kane did. Secondly lots of players are not suited to playing in the lower leagues as the players at that level don't have the ability to say spot their runs or read what they're going to do.

Rodfarts 12:50 Wed Nov 25
Re: The demise of youth football in this country.....
There are plenty in the West Ham development team this year for a start griff son.

Look at Cullen, not the quickest kid but probably been the best player in the development squad this season.

But I'm not just basing it on that I have 2 mates with boys in academies one is one of the most skillful and creative 11 year olds I have seen. He was let go as he was small and not the quickest. The other is a no where near as good but is super quick and tall......but can barely trap the ball but they love him?

It's fucking bizarre.

Marston Hammer 12:43 Wed Nov 25
Re: The demise of youth football in this country.....
With all the youth teams being fixated with pace it's even more impressive that Noble came through the system to play so many games at the top level.
